New markets, resolved markets and upsets
On this page
Two pages cover the two ends of a market's life. New lists questions that have been newly listed and that people are already trading. Resolved lists what recently settled, what traders expected the day before and which results were upsets.
#New markets
Select New in the row of Predictions pages. The page lists markets newly listed on the venues that already have trading, newest first, as cards. It shows up to 36 of them, and the topic chips, headed All topics, narrow the list to one topic.
Each card is the same card you meet everywhere on Predictions. See How to read prediction market odds. The overview has a New and already busy box with an All new markets › link.
#Resolved markets
Select Resolved in the row of Predictions pages. The page lists what markets recently settled on, over about the last three weeks.
Settled markets. Each row shows the result, then what traders gave that outcome a day before.
- 1All results, or only upsets
- 2What it settled on
- 3The chance a day before, topic, venue and when it closed
- 4Upset: the outcome had under 30%
Each row shows:
- The question, as a link to its page.
- Settled and the result in bold, such as the winning side or the final figure.
- What traders expected. The line under the question says Chance a day before: 36% for a question with a winner, or Median a day before for a question about a number, then the topic, the venue and when it closed. If a market had been followed for less than a day, the line says at the last reading instead.
- Upset, a tag on a result that traders gave under 30% the day before.
The two tabs at the top choose All results or only Upsets. The topic chips narrow the page to one topic.
#Open a result
Select a question to open its page. A settled market's page has a Settled line, the last odds before it closed and the chart of how they moved. See Read a market's page.
#Common questions
How long do results stay on the page?
The page lists what settled in about the last three weeks, up to 40 results. Older results drop off the list.
Why does a result show a chance of 99% or more for the winner?
Some markets are all but decided before they close. The chance shown is the one traders gave the winning outcome a day before it closed.
What is the difference between closed and settled?
Closed means trading has ended. Settled means the venue has decided the result. A market that has closed but is not yet decided says Closed, awaiting its result on its page.
